TRY Market Victoria

TRy Market Victoria

Another scheme for TRY Markets, this time just opposite Victoria train station. The scheme is larger then the Fulham project with more kitchens and seating area. The building is an old TFL building, built over the Circle line, and most recently used as a famous night club. The building had been unused for many years before TRY took over and have transformed into a wonderful dining establishment. TEW carried out full MEP design for the systems. Challenges included a very low head height on the ground floor and the large glass roof light on the top floor ~ single glazed! A VRF system was installed throughout to provide efficient heating and cooling. The large amount of extraction air is taken through the rear of the building externally and discharges via a new stack up the side of the adjoining building – planning required the stack to be clad to blend in. Make-up air is provided naturally through automated louvres set into the rooflight walls – the louvres contain heating coils fed from the high efficiency gas boilers. Electric power was in short demand for this site and would of required a new sub-station – therefore power saving measures were put in place to reduce the buildings electrical footprint including LED lighting, removing local electric heating and hot water heaters and replacing with a radiator system and a central hot water system.

Mape Street, East London

Mape Street

Situated next to Weavers Field Park in Bethnal Green, Mape Street is another project for PRHA. The building, an old Victorian school, is listed and required extensive details at planning stage. These kind of old school buildings are quite a common site around London. The building was previously converted around 15 years ago, with the upper floors used for sheltered housing and the ground floor partly used for a Nursery with the rest as a community space. The scheme is to refurbish the community space to provide a new head office for PRHA. This required upgrading all the services, with new ventilation to serve new internal office areas, heat pumps to provide efficient heating and cooling, new LED lighting with daylight control to maximise the benefit of the high ceilings and tall windows seen in the picture above.

TRY Market Fulham

Try Market Fulham

Providing a new experience in dinning, Fulham was TRY Markets first site. Situated within a listed building, TEW provided MEP design advice to the client and contractor. The scheme provides ten individual kitchens with a central dining area, bar and so on. Due to the amount of air movement from extracting from this number of kitchens, this created a challenge in providing the make-up air and providing a comfortable environment for the diners. The use of heat pumps within 100% fresh air air handling units was the concept with a variety of discharge terminals around the space to fit in with the decor.

Edward Gibbons House, East London

Edward Gibbons House

We have provided full MEP design for a refurbishment of the lower floors of Edward Gibbons House (EGH). EGH is owned and manged by Providence Row Housing Association who provide supported housing for at risk persons. The refurbishment covers the lower communal and staff areas to provide more opportunities and better facilities for the users. The MEP proposal is based on full LED lighting, enhanced ventilation with efficient heat recovery and increased secure access control systems. As an existing building, TEW had to carry out extensive investigations into the existing systems to work out the best option for the client to achieve the requirements in a cost effective manner.

New Street, Birmingham

newstreet

We have been providing drainage advice for the freeholder on a retail block on the popular New Street in Birmingham. The listed block consists of three stories of retail and office space with apartments above. The specific retail unit is to change from a clothes store to a well known restaurant chain. As part of the freeholders team, we provided advice on modifications to the existing drainage system to accommodate the new requirements.

Global House, Epsom

globalhouse

We have provided MEP design services for refurbishment of the ground floor office unit. The property is a managed office building and the freeholder was keen to refurbish the ground floor unit ready for prospective new tenants. The complete existing MEP services are to be removed and replaced with new.
