Parkwood Surgery, Hemel Hempstead

We carried out MEP design up to RIBA Stage 3 for this complete refurbishment and substantial extension for ASSURA. We then stayed client side to monitor the contractors detailed design and installation. The scheme is designed to be complete in two phases to allow the surgery to carry on operating during the works. Currently Phase 1 has been completed and Phase 2 within the existing building is underway. Completion is due mid-2022.

We carried out MEP design up to RIBA Stage 3 for the new medical centre in Coxheath. The scheme was to be constructed on a greenfield site and designed to achieve BREEAM Excellent – this was made especially challenging as the scheme approved by planners (carried out by others) did not allow the use of photovoltaics on the roof. The project is currently under construction with a completion mid-2022.

We carried out MEP design up to RIBA Stage 3 for Medical Centre Developments for this new build surgery in the heart of Brighton. The scheme is to be carried out in two phases to allow the practice to continue operating throughout. The scheme also requires the relocation of an existing UKPN sub-station prior to commencing any works. The building is around 1,450m2 over three storeys. Again to BREEAM Excellent and featuring natural ventilation, heat pump technology, and roof mounted photovoltaics. The sub-station has been relocated allowing the Phase 1 build to commence. Completion of Phase 2 is mid-2023.

Glebe Surgery, Storrington, West Sussex
We have carried out MEP design for the new 1500m2 three storey doctors surgery and pharmacy. The building will replace an existing smaller surgery on the site. The new building is part of a wider development of new residential units being provided by Millwood Designer Homes Limited. As the development is on green belt, there are stringent planning requirements to meet. One of these is that the building is to achieve a BREEAM Excellent. The proposed design includes full LED lighting and lighting controls, underfloor heating, a natural ventilation strategy including night-time cooling ventilation to the core, and a small amount of photovoltaics on the roof – located so as to reduce visibility. The project was completed in 2019.
