Existing sites

For existing buildings we can provide a range of services. We have listed some of the frequent services carried out below, however please contact us if you have a particular requirement.

Condition Surveys

We can provide advice on the current condition of the existing services installations. This is often in the form of dilapidation surveys of the services as part of leasehold or purchasing agreements. Condition surveys may also be carried out a part of asset registers, or for investigation into problems.

Feasibility Reports

For those looking to extend, refurbish or modify their existing buildings, we can provide advice on the proposals in respect of the services installations. This can be a simple report, or can lead on to full works specifications and drawings.

Energy Assessments

For those who are looking to reduce their energy consumption or carbon footprint, we can review the existing installations and provide advice and options on the best way to achieve this goal. A report can be tailored to the client’s requirements  – whether a full detailed analysis with budget costings and paybacks, or just a simple summary of the options.

Energy Performance Certificates

We can provide Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) for existing or new non-residential buildings. We can carry out EPC’s for all levels of buildings – Level 3, 4 and 5.

New projects

We provide services design from the initial stages of the project right through to the completion and beyond.

We have experience in the following sectors:

  • Commercial
  • Residential
  • Industrial
  • Retail
  • Healthcare
  • Education
  • Leisure
  • Conservation
We design energy efficient services systems for buildings. We aim to provide systems that provide a comfortable environment, simple to use and easy to maintain. We believe that energy efficiency is obtained through a realistic understanding of engineering principles.
Key to our approach is listening and understanding the client’s requirments. At the end of the day, the project needs to deliever a building that works for the client.
Throughout the project, we work closely with the architect and the design team to integrate the services into the building form and to help realise the creative intent. Through our work with the design team, we aim to dispel the myth that services are a “necessary evil”.

Building Physics

Building physics is the understanding of how buildings work in terms of temperature, air, light and energy.  This is carried out through building modelling.

We specialise in providing building performance modelling through all stages of the project – from pre planning through to operational buildings. Building modelling can be carried out for compliance checks, or as a design tool to enhance the building performance.

Why carry out building modelling?

Building modelling is a valuable tool for the client and the design team. Early stage analysis can help the design team to enhance the building form, façade and services strategy. Analysis of the options available can assist the team in making key decisions.

The benefits of building modelling for the design team are improved decision making, greater confidence in the final building performance, better plant selection and a better understanding of the building thermal performance for all seasons.

For the client, risk analysis of value engineering decisions in the early stages of a project can help advise on the impact on building performance, lower energy consumption and carbon emissions – a better performing building which hopefully will lead on to increased productivity.

Services we can provided include:

  • energy assessments
  • dynamic thermal modelling
  • overheating analysis
  • energy compliance (including building regulations part L and energy performance certificates)
  • daylight assessment
  • ventilation strategies
